They put up posters at my school that said “dress to be comfortable, not to impress boys” and used it to enforce the dress code so these were put up in retaliation.

Ok, I’ve been silent as long as I can stand. I fully support anyone’s desires to wear whatever they want but there are some FACTS that need to be acknowledged;1. You can wear warm weather clothes that do not sexualize you body, people do it all the time, shorts and a t shirt much.2. You really shouldn’t get upset if people react to you dressing in a revealing way in a negative or sexual way, there is a biological response to seeing the exposed or nearly exposed body of the type of person you are programmed to want to have sex with. It’s not a choice, even if no one says anything, they are still looking at your exposed flesh in a sexual light, it’s the reason out species still exists.3. No one should say shit to you If you don’t want them to but If they do think of this, if the person saying this were someone I found attractive, respected, or had a crush on, would I react the same way as if someone I didn’t like, respect, or care about, said the same thing. If the answer to the last question was no if you wouldn’t react the exact same way no matter who said somthing to you, well, then your just a hypocrite and an ass hole.4. Being sexually liberated does not infact liberate you, it is a trick.

also, let’s be real. dress codes at school aren’t even that bad. they just don’t want you to wear shorts that your ass hangs out of and shirts that your boobs hang out of. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND IT’S HOT AS FUCK 98% OF THE TIME AND WE ALL MANAGED TO FOLLOW DRESS CODE AND WEAR SHORTS AND SHIRTS AND WEATHER APPROPRIATE CLOTHING

I would also like to point out that a lot of dresscodes are also a compromise for the many religions that would be found in a public school. In several religions, exposed skin is very much a no-no, and seeing it makes members of that faith uncomfortable. Regardless of faith or religion, exposed flesh can make people generally uncomfortable, even if it isn’t sexual.
There are people that find nudity, or over-exposure of bare flesh triggering because of childhood trauma.
Now I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and we all managed to come to school wearing a light t-shirt and shorts no problem. If you got dresscoded for the length of your shorts, or the cut of your shirt, I want you to honestly look at your choice of outfit, and ask yourself if there was really nothing you could have done to be just a bit more modest.
You can be yourself, and be sexually liberated without exposing every possible inch of your skin. I mean, I was made uncomfortable in high school when I would see girls walking around with their asses hanging out of their shorts and their tits almost falling out, and I’m sexually liberated. I was back then.
Dresscodes are not there to beat you down, or take away who you are.
Honestly, how hard is it to adhere to an institutions dresscode for six-eight hours a day, five days a week? Cuz guess what: you’re gonna have to do the same thing for the rest of your life when you have a career, unless you’re self-employed.
Maybe if people stopped hinging their identities on the clothes they wear, or the make-up they wear, or how they do their hair, or even the tattoos they get, this kinda stuff wouldn’t be a problem. *shrugs*

i dont know how it is in other contries, but i live in england so we have compulsary uniform, however on non school uniform days shorts and t-shirts are not allowed on girls as it is considered suggestive. i think this is ridiculous and wrong and slos sexualy discriminative. uniform policys can opress you and be sexist without even realiseing it
